Review: HOOKED ON TROUBLE by Kelly Siskind

Contemporary Erotic Romance

HOOKED ON TROUBLE is a multi-layered, in-depth look at Raven and Nico’s love affair. A love affair I’ve been looking forward to since CHASING CRAZY. The depth of characterization for both the main characters is wonderful and stirring. The description and humor are as wittily done as I’ve come to expect with Ms. Siskind’s books and by the time I’d finished, I didn’t want the story to end.

I expected, after reading the first two in this series, to get a dose of light-hearted wit and some smoking hot sex scenes. As far as the sex scenes, they didn’t disappoint (whoo-boy did they ever NOT disappoint, smoking hot baby!) I mean, I totally have a weakness for inked characters, and there’s enough delicious ink in this story to satisfy my tattoo loving soul.

The romance really touched me in this book, and I’m not ashamed to say that it’s my favorite of the series. Characters who’ve had a lot happen to them in their lives, the broken ones who have to grow and learn to trust again… and still risk love anyway, those are the ones I adore and most closely empathize with. A bow to Ms. Siskind in delivering exactly my favorite type of love story. The story is funny, sweetly soft, a bit heart wrenching and blisteringly hot (seriously, OMG smoking hot).

I had an epic book hangover after reading HOOKED ON TROUBLE. I may have to go back and reread it again. Highly recommend it for fans of M/F contemporary erotic romance.

Readability: 5/5 stars: Page turning, didn’t want to put it down to do mundane things like laundry or dishes and needed to finish it. These two characters were so ‘real’ to me that I had a book hangover after finishing the story. One of those book-overs where you just can’t believe the story you just read wasn’t in-the-flesh truth.

Arcs: 5/5 stars: I adore series books, and this was the perfect finish to the series. I’m really hoping Ms. Siskind chooses to write another series so that I can go buy and read those too. The character growth and challenges of Raven and Nico took the story to the next level for me.

Writing Craft: 4/5 stars: My editor brain slept through most of the story, meaning I could really enjoy the story. It’s a rare thing to find a book that lets me do that these days.

Would I buy it for a friend? Yes. I’d definitely buy it for any friend who loves contemporary erotic romance.
